Holding Trades Longer

Image
In my previous post , I shared my theory to multiple timeframe analysis. Practicing what I preach is a lot harder to do, but I am trying. I took a couple of trades where momentum remained insignificant so I exited accordingly. However, this week's recap will focus on two key trades.

My Theory to Multiple Timeframe Analysis

Image
I have been developing my own theory to multiple timeframe analysis (MTA). MTA is almost the equivalent of a buzzword that every trading Youtuber "guru" likes to mention. However, I feel few get it right.

This week was very uneventful. I took several losses. Some trades just didn't work out. Other trades were due to my impatience as the entry decision was not optimal. I'll cover several trades and let's hope these lessons learned translate to a better June.

The week ending April 24, 2026 was underwhelming. The confidence from the prior week built up and I took more trades than I should have. As a result, some trades were sub-optimal because I did not wait for a full trend structure to form.  There were also a couple of other trades where I scaled size a little bit too aggressively. This post will be short to recap some of the sub-optimal decisions that I made and how I should have approached the setups differently.

I had another great week. I kept my trade entries, ongoing management, and exits consistent. The geopolitical tensions did not influence my analysis nor decisions. There are a few trades I'd like to recap this week, especially as I continued to focus on less is more mentality.

I was very satisfied with my trades over the past week. I remained patient and it paid off. Instead of over-trading or monitoring my full watchlist, I only focused on two FX pairs. This resulted in me executing optimal entries by really taking the time to understand the price structure.

Volatility was relatively lower this week due to the statutory holidays (Good Friday and Easter Monday). For most people, probably just Good Friday is observed as a public holiday. Since this week ended "early," I guess I'm writing my recap slightly earlier as well.

March was pure chaos. Crude oil prices reached highs that we haven't seen since 2022. FX market volatility is strangely unpredictable (at least, for me). As a result, I've had to really be conscious to "slow down" my trading and be careful over the past couple of weeks. This is a recap of a few notable trades and how well they aligned with my strategy.

January was a month of travelling through Southeast Asia, so I did not watch the markets closely. I would check my charts here and there during my downtime, but I did not dedicate screen time to fully scan through all currency pairs. However, January was motivating. I'm even more motivated in 2026 to lock in on trading and make this work. The potential to learn a new skill, generate extra income, and travel comfortably has never been more enticing. There's too much I want to see and eat. Until that day comes, here is my trading recap for the week ending February 6th.

My Thoughts on Tori Trades

Image
I've been following Tori Trades' content for quite some time. Her trend line strategy and concepts have helped me think through ways to optimize my trend trading system. As with any trader that has garnered a following on social media, she also has her fair share of haters.

Mental Capital

Image
I’m not going to do a full recap of the past week because my time in front of the charts was minimal. This was due to a combination of factors, including having other personal commitments and fewer signals across all the currency pairs I look at. However, I do want to cover a certain topic that is “mental capital” and highlight it in the trades that I did take.

Volatility died down over the past week due to the US Thanksgiving holiday. While there were movements, my overall observation of the price action was choppy.

This post will cover the past two weeks. While I did not get a chance to draft last week’s post, I did have a couple of notable trades. The past week was a bit rougher since the breakout signals did not yield desired results.

November started slow. There was a lack of US economic data releases due to the government shutdown. The release of October’s non-farm payroll numbers was planned for November 7th, but that did not happen. As a result, we did not see any choppy movements on Friday. That being said, my trade entries and management were consistent over the past week. I did not force any trades, and the signals were strong for the trades that I did enter.

The past week has been uneventful. I over-traded by entering trades based on price’s reaction away from EMAs rather than observing a confluence of price behaviors supporting the trend on the higher timeframe. I’ll need to reset, re-focus, and be very conscious of this in the future.

The past week was probably one of the best weeks for me for quite some time. I felt like I finally got my groove back with consistent entries and trading the signals as they appeared. To keep emotions out of the equation, my exits were systematic through the use of trailing stop losses.

Optimizing Trend Trades

Image
Price action over the past week was not the greatest. While I didn’t notice any strong signals nor did I make any major plays, I think there’s an opportunity here to talk about how I can go about optimizing this trend trading strategy.

Focusing on one trade at a time continues to pay off. This was observable over the past week, where I was able to control my FOMO by not taking on additional trades if I'm already in one.

The less is more approach that I’ve been taking has been working out well so far. Instead of scanning my entire watchlist and then placing multiple trades at a time, I focus on one trade at a time. This does mean I’ll miss a lot of signals and plays, but it also means I’m really focused on the trade that I do enter. By taking notes directly on my charts, this has strengthened my analysis greatly.  The next challenge is to work on FOMO and making sure that I do not enter trades that shouldn’t have been considered.

This post will be a bit different. I don’t have any trades, wins, or losses to share for the past week. Past few weeks, in fact. This is because I’ve been experimenting with a new approach to optimize my journaling process.
