Dogshit Part 2
No, this post isn't really an update on my broker's price manipulation. Long story short, they attempted to give me a generic statement about the FX market. I countered and now they are "investigating."
In the meantime, the retail broker bullshit continues as I witnessed another manipulation attempt first hand.
I entered an AUDNZD short position at 12:09 PM EST with an entry price of 1.07029. I get stopped out at 1:00 PM EST at 1.07279. More specifically, my broker spiked the price to take out my stop. I saw this live and immediately followed up with another price challenge.
While I screenshotted and recorded the High of each broker just like before, I'll jump over them and summarize my basis.
None of my broker's key competitors have produced a similar price spike. Here's a quick screenshot showing Forex.com, a similar market maker.
In fact, the candle at 1 PM EST does not engulf the previous few candles on both Forex.com and Oanda. The engulfing candle is only apparently on my broker, which I shall refer to as SMM or Shady Manipulated Markets.
This post summarizes my latest price challenge. Again, it will take five business days (or longer) for SMM to investigate after their generic statement did not get me to shut up.
Now, what do I do moving forward?
The ideal solution is just to switch brokers entirely. Unfortunately, my current broker does the following very well that I cannot find a similar (regulated) broker to replace them with:
- Canadian bill payments deposit & EFT withdrawals
- Simplistic web-based desktop and mobile platform for quick trade entries
- Very customizable volume sizes
It's going to take me a while before I find a replacement broker if one exists. In the meantime, I can only resort to changing how I play this game.
Specifically, widen my stop loss so that the only way I get taken out of a position is if price drastically goes against me due to some kind of fundamental news. The downside here is that my reward-to-risk ratio is affected, meaning I now need to be very conscious of my win rate since I am targeting a lower R-multiple.
Despite the recent bullshit, my analysis and grind shall continue.
